Do I need to take a placement test?

For our courses A1-B1 the placement tests are optional. If you are not sure which course best suits your knowledge of German, you are welcome to take a free placement test. Complete the placement test on our website. From level B2, such a placement test is mandatory, unless you already have a current, official B1 certificate.

Are the course books included in the course fee?

No, the course books must be paid separately. The books for our A1 courses cost an additional CHF 60 each (for online courses CHF 50), resp. CHF 65 (A2, B1, B2, C1 books).

Can I attend a trial lesson?

Yes, of course! New customers are welcome to arrange a free trial lesson with us (email to kontakt@hallodeutschschule.ch at least 24 hours in advance) to get an impression of our course concept.

How and when can I pay for the course?

The easiest way to pay for the course is by bank transfer. You will receive the invoice for your course by e-mail a few days before the course starts. You can also pay for the course on site. Semi-intensive courses can be paid in two installments of 325 Fr., Saturday courses in four installments of 170 francs.

I have a Kultur-Legi. Do I get a discount?

Unfortunately not. As we are a private school and already offer our courses at very affordable prices, Kultur-Legi holders cannot benefit from discounts.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of participants in your courses?

Yes. Our intensive courses start with a minimum of 6 participants, and our semi-intensive and Saturday courses with a minimum of 7 participants. To ensure a good learning atmosphere, the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 14.

I was sick for two days last week and couldn’t attend the course. Can I make up the missed days?

Unfortunately, this is not possible for organizational reasons. The lessons are also not recorded. However, your teacher will be happy to tell you what you missed on request, or you can ask your questions about the missed material in the Online-Lernbetreuung. If you submit a medical certificate to us, you will receive a voucher for the missed lesson days.

What happens if I have holidays planned during the course?

If you interruse the course due to private or business reasons (holidays, business trips, etc.), we can unfortunately not issue you a voucher. You can ask your questions about grammar topics that you missed in class in our Online-Lernbetreuung.

I only attended the course a few times and can/do not want to continue. Will I get a refund?

In principle, no. However, exceptions are possible, and we are happy to review your case individually. If you have to stop the course for health reasons, we will credit the corresponding amount upon presentation of a medical certificate.

Can I cancel my course registration?

Cancellation is free of charge up to 5 days before the course starts and must be made in writing by email. Detailed cancellation conditions can be found in our Terms and Conditions. T&C

I need an official language certificate. Can I obtain one at Hallo Deutschschule?

Yes. We offer telc exams (recognized by authorities and employers) at levels A1 to B2. All exam dates and registration deadlines can be found on our website under “Certificates/Exams.” Please note that it may take 6 to 8 weeks after the exam for the results to be available.
